Moxibustion Therapy is a procedure in which a rolled herbal ‘cigar’ of mugwort is lighted and held just above the acupuncture point until the skin becomes flushed. It warms and clears energy channels, removes pathogenic cold and dampness, and revives yang energy. Moxibustion is used to treat abdominal discomfort and other maladies due to pathogenic cold, such as ptosis of the internal organs and disorders due to stasis of the blood and Qi energy, such as rheumatism and neuralgia.
Cupping Therapy uses small jars or cups in which a vacuum is created by heat. The cup is then administered to the affected area of the body. Cupping therapy is used to regulate the flow of Qi energy and blood. Cupping therapy has been used with good results to treat colds, coughs, headaches, gastro-intestinal discomfort, indigestion, hypertension, rheumatism, and skin ulcers.
